Robert (Bob) HuntMaster Glass Artisan
Bob's creative talents have been expressed in a succession of successful careers. He was owner of a chain of steakhouses, creator of custom furniture, importer of stained glass, and teacher of stained glass art. He is currently an Art Glass Studio owner, musician and successful artist in stained as well as kiln-fired fused glass. As a result of Bob's tutelage, numerous former students now have their own stained glass studios in cities all across Canada Bob has worked in North Hollywood, U.S.A. and numerous Canadian cities such as Thunder Bay Ontario, Calgary Alberta, Sorrento B.C., and Lee Creek on Shuswap Lake and now Campbell River. He chose to settle on the shores of Oyster Bay, just south of Campbell River on the Island Highway. In a modest studio facing the Straight of Georgia with the Pacific Coastal Mountains in the background, Bob continues to teach and create with his favourite medium, art glass. Now, Bob is embarking on yet another artistic adventure. It was here in the salmon fishing Mecca of Campbell River on Vancouver Island that Bob has combined his love of fishing with his love of creating with glass. After many years of trials and testing Bob has created an original and revolutionary new salmon fishing lure using fused glass, which he christened Firefish. While beautiful on their own, these unique lures are primarily designed to catch all varieties of pacific salmon. During field-testing in Quatsino sound, not only were the prized Chinook filmed taking the Firefish lure, but it was also observed to be effective on halibut and many types of cod and rockfish. Far from being retired, Bob continues to indulge his favourite pastimes. He volunteers his time entertaining at homes for seniors with both instrumental and vocal renditions of 50's and 60's tunes. He continues with his love of glass and the creative process of discovering other unique and beautiful uses for the mediums of stained and kiln-fired fused glass.
